Client Spotlight: Meet Mr. Lumpkin

Charlie Lumpkin received his Masters's Degree from Temple U and his Bachelor's Degree from S. Carolina State U. He was an Aquatic Director for Temple U and the School District of Philadelphia for over 30 years. He is the former SUN Chaser Project Inc. CEO, which Integrates Solar, Underwater, and Nonviolence Ed.


He received the 2014 Presidents Award for Excellence from The Atlantic Rangers Scuba Club in Philadelphia. He is the unofficial Chaplin for the Atlantic Rangers and the National Association of Black Scuba Divers.


He was a Staff Member for "Classroom Under the Sea" Underwater Habitat World Record of 73 Days from Oct. 2nd – Dec. 15th, 2014, in Key Largo, Florida, at Jules Undersea Lodge, www.mrdf.org, featuring scientists Jessica Fain and Bruce Cantrell. Diversity in Aquatics was the primary sponsor.


He has received numerous awards, including Inductions into the S. Carolina State U Athletic Hall of Fame and the National Association of Black Scuba (NABS) Divers Hall of Fame. He was an assistant coach for the PDR Swim Team. The movie "Pride" was about this team and its coach Dr. James Ellis. 


He's a member of the Philly Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. He is a Diversity in Aquatics Programs (DAP) member and former Co-Chair of the HBCU Council. He is a former Philadelphia Solar Energy Association member and the American Association of Blacks in Energy.


He's a member of The United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia and Peace Day Philly, www.peacedayphilly.org; he has escorted hundreds of students and adults to The United Nations for Peace programs. His primary focus in nonviolence is "Weapons of Mass Destruction in Aquatic Environments."


His significant conference was at Turner Middle School in Philadelphia. The SUN Chaser Project brought together students, teachers, professors, researchers, and community activists in a Conference called "Humans and the Sea Past, Present, and Future."


He recently finished working as a consultant and writer at Jules Underwater Lodge in Key Largo, Florida. He returns to Key Largo frequently to write.
